Metal detecting - exciting finds!
What a fun day we had today!
We stopped at a municipal park in Kenai to try see what we could find with our metal detector. Perry said "try the sand first" - I started by the merry-go-round, the slides - nothing!
Once I got under the swings I started getting a steady ping indicating 25ct..I grabbed my sand sifter and started digging about 2-3 inches down and found what I thought was a QUARTER. It was a Liberty DOLLAR coin with Sacagawea's picture. I figured there might be more so kept detecting and found ANOTHER dollar coin! Pres. Martin Van Buren on one side.
They are only worth face value of One Dollar each but it's the best find we've found so far with the metal detector other than the gold flakes we found at Destruction Pass a few weeks ago :)
